Back in Mumbai from abroad — booking on a short stay

A week at home, and most of it already spoken for

You land in Mumbai and the week is planned before your bag comes off the belt. Lunch at an aunt's flat in Thane on day one, a puja on Sunday, the bank visit you keep putting off. Somewhere in there you want one evening that belongs to you.

That evening books the same way it does for a man who lives here. Living abroad does not change the price by a rupee, and no money moves until you meet her. What trips visitors up is the small stuff around it: a foreign SIM, no rupees in the pocket, a body clock still set to Dubai or London.

Messaging from a foreign number

Keep the SIM you flew in with. WhatsApp works on a UAE, UK or US number exactly as it does on an Indian one, over mobile data or the Wi-Fi in your family's home. You do not need a local SIM to reach us.

Save our number with India's code in front: +91 90048 80715. Saved as a plain ten-digit number, your phone reads it as a number in your own country, and WhatsApp may not find it. The WhatsApp button on this site skips that step and opens the chat straight away.

Ringing is a different matter. A normal call from a foreign SIM in India is a roaming call, and your home carrier sets its price. A WhatsApp call goes over the internet, like a message.

Paying in rupees, after she arrives

No advance is taken from anyone, and that includes a guest writing from Doha or Toronto. You settle up with her on arrival, in cash or through UPI. Every girl charges the same rupee rates: ₹15,000 for 2 hours, ₹20,000 for 3, ₹40,000 for an overnight of up to 9 hours. The rates page also lists six hours, dinner dates and extra hours. Staying more than 12 km out? Add ₹800 to ₹2,000 for travel; bookings in Navi Mumbai, Nerul and Kalyan carry it.

UPI without an Indian SIM

With an Indian SIM and an Indian bank account, any UPI app works for you as it does for everyone else in the city.

On a foreign number it can work too, with conditions. The number has to be linked to an NRE or NRO account in an Indian bank. NPCI's first list, from January 2023, covered numbers from the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UK, the US, Canada, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong, and both the bank and the UPI app on your phone must support it. Test it with a small payment to someone in the family before your flight, not on the night.

A visitor on a foreign passport may hear about UPI One World, a wallet in the CheqUPI app that you fill from a foreign card. NPCI describes it as a way to pay merchants by scanning their QR code, and you can load at most ₹50,000 into it in a month. It was not built for paying a person, so do not plan the evening around it.

Cash still does the job

A foreign debit card usually works in Indian ATMs once your bank has switched on use abroad. Many machines stop at about ₹10,000 a withdrawal, so ₹15,000 for 2 hours means two goes at the machine. The Indian bank and your own bank may each take a fee every time. Get it done in the afternoon, near where you sleep, instead of hunting for a working ATM after dark.

Our hours on your home clock

We keep Mumbai time. On a Monday a booking can start between 12:30 PM and 2:30 AM. Midweek, Tuesday through Thursday, the first start is 11:30 AM and the last is 3 AM, and over Friday, Saturday and Sunday it runs 11:30 AM to 4:30 AM. The late figure marks the final start of the night, not the end of the booking.

Your body clock will argue with those hours for a day or two. If you flew in from New York, 3 AM in Mumbai is late afternoon on the clock your body still keeps. From the Gulf the gap is small: Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat sit an hour and a half behind Mumbai; Doha, Riyadh and Kuwait sit two and a half behind.

Clocks abroad move this season as well. The UK goes back an hour on 25 October 2026 and the US on 1 November 2026, which leaves London five and a half hours behind Mumbai and New York ten and a half. The Gulf keeps the same time all year. Tap the city you came from, and the table works out this week's hours in your time.

Diwali week and the wedding dates

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, with Dhanteras two days before it on Friday 6 November. After that the wedding dates in the Hindu almanacs come back. The lists we read start around 21 November and run to about 12 December.

We stay open through Diwali week. On Diwali day itself the phones open at 10 AM, and that night's final start time moves to 7 AM. If your trip lands in one of those weeks, write to us the day before instead of an hour before. Your own diary will be packed with family, and a day's notice leaves room to settle the girl and the time without a rush.

Staying at the family flat

If you sleep at your parents' place, bringing a guest home is out of the question. So you go to her. Her flat and yours carry the same price. Took a hotel room for a night or two instead? Then she can come over, and the rate stays as it is.
